Post it Note show – Join us!
Mount Vernon Creates is proud to present our Post it Note show. We are looking to all of the non-artists and artists out there of all ages to get involved in this wonderful show. Stop in any time in March to create your 3 x 3 post it note drawing or bring it in for the show. We will be creating a community exhibit out of everyone’s piece.
Groups are welcome to participate, i.e. schools, staff, teams, etc.
Free to participate.

New Event Center Ready for Your Special Occasion
Stop in to see our new event center…it is a must see. Our facility can be rented for special occasions. We are able to host a myriad of events and layouts with our multiple rooms, i.e. weddings, receptions, bridal showers, graduations, birthdays and other special occasions. Stop in to see…this new space has been completely renovated.
We will even arrange the catering and your needs for you.
MVMS Mustang Fundraiser
This auction is an opportunity to support the Mount Vernon Middle School students, staff and programs.
**You must be over 18 years old to bid in this auction.**
It is with great appreciation that we thank the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council (MVAAC, mvaac.org) – the sponsor of this online auction. MVAAC members also shared their time and talents with us by creating some of the wonderful art pieces listed here.
Most of the other pieces were created by MVMS students; a staff member and a couple of parents created pieces as well. When possible, names of the artist are provided in the item listing.
Artists and students were given a wooden cutout of the school’s mustang logo and were asked to express themselves however they desired. The dimensions of ALL of the pieces are approximately 28.5 inches from nose to tail and about 16 inches from the highest point of the mane to the lowest point on the hooves.
MVMS PRIDE thanks our primary sponsor, Gordon Lumber Company for the donation of all of the wood for this project.
We are also grateful to art teacher Mark Benesh who helped develop the idea of this auction. In addition, Benesh and our principal, Bob Haugse and his father, Tom Haugse cut out each of the mustang silhouettes that were painted by our students and local artists.
Bob Haugse and Patty Mote also headed up the distribution of wood materials and collection of completed works – we certainly couldn’t have done this without their support – thank you!

Bridal Expo Vendors Needed
We’re seeking wedding vendors for our winter 2019 Bridal Expo. The event will be held at the recently renovated Mount Vernon Creates Event Center in Mount Vernon, IA. For vendor pricing information, please contact Denise Murphy at denise@mountvernoncreates.com for more information.
The event will run from 10 – 4 pm Feb 9, 2019. Set up starts at 9 am.
We are also looking for a vendor to provide wedding dresses, tuxedos and models for this event. The plan would be to have a stationary area for brides to view from. (next year 2020 will have a runway show)
This venue is a beautifully renovated space right on main street in Mount Vernon, IA.

Alcohol Inks Painting Class Dec 4th from 6 – 8pm
Alcohol Inks Painting Class…sign up now at Mount Vernon Creates. This class is designed for non-artists and artists wanting to pick up techniques. You will be taught techniques in which to build on and create your own master pieces. We will complete a few projects on Yupo paper and tiles.
Cost for class: 25.00 (includes materials)
We also have Cedar Ridge or Brick Arch wine on site for sale. You can bring in snacks to enjoy.
If you would like to schedule a private painting event for a group, please let us know.
